Senator Reny continues to advocate for legislation that supports the local economies in Senate District 13, including creative housing solutions and small business supports that work for the district. She is focused on improving the economic development in SD13 so everyone has access to better jobs that pay living wages and affordable housing, childcare, and utilities.
In her second term, Senator Reny passed bills to protect mobile home communities and expand rural affordable rental housing programs. Sen. Reny’s bills to expand workforce housing in rural Maine and examine hazardous occupations for minors also passed in her first term. Reny also proposed legislation to create affordable housing through cooperative and employee-owned businesses and building new affordable housing in the district.
Throughout her four years in the legislature, Sen. Reny has supported bills to improve child care access and affordability. Sen. Reny protected Wiscasset property tax payers by not allowing Maine Yankee to receive property tax exemption as an “Air Pollution Control Facility.” She continues to work to combat rising property taxes throughout the district.
